☼Healthy Morning Rituals☼

How you start your day says a lot about how the rest of it will be! Your alarm goes off and you contemplate hitting the snooze button, yes we've all been there. Spending the first 10 minutes of the morning with our eyes glued to our phone screens, before we even see any natural light! Change these bad habits by creating morning routines or rituals! First things first, if the sun is shining go look out the window and let the light fill your eyes and hit your skin. It will give you an immediate energy boost! Then continue on with a set morning activity.

Here are a few ideas for you!

 

Write📝- start your day off by writing down 5 things you're grateful for! "Gratitude is the opposite of depression and anxiety". Practicing gratitude is the conscious experience of appreciation of the gifts in our lives and the results are tangible! Thinking about the positive things in your life first thing in the morning will give you a positive outlook for the rest of the day! 

Stretch🙆🏻- for just 10 mins, a morning yoga routine will slowly wake up your mind and warm your body! If yoga isn't your thing, try doing some basic stretching! Remember to drink some water too! Doing this first thing in the morning can improve your posture, alleviate pains and aches, improve blood flow and boost your energy!

Meditate🕉- taking a few minutes first thing in the morning to focus on relaxing, breathing and mindfulness can improve your whole day! Find a mediation that works for you and make it a morning ritual!

Hydration💦- it's well known that drinking water has many health benefits! By starting your day with 1/2 to 1 liter of water will make sure that your body isn't dehydrated throughout the rest of the day! This will help with your mental clarity, energy and mood! You can also drink a glass of water with fresh squeezed lemon juice and make it a substitute for coffee. Lemon water can help detox your body, promote  digestion, aids in weight loss, and can soothe a stomach ache! You can drink during your morning ritual for double the health benefits! 

Connect🙂- if you live with a significant other or even just a roommate, try starting your day together! If its your roommate, meditate or do some yoga together! If this person is your significant other, take a few minutes right after you wake up to tell them a couple things they love about you and they do the same to you. Really connect by looking each other in the eyes and maybe even hold hands. Share your thoughts with each other. For instance, "Today I am going to have a wonderful day!" or, "I have all the power to make today the best it can be". You can also do this with your children, if you have any. If you live alone, send a close friend a message. Everyone enjoys getting a positive and loving 'good morning text' every once in a while. 

Eat Your Breakfast🍳- yes, its true, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Make eating breakfast a priority. Eating a piece of toast with a little jam and walking out the door doesn't cut it. Take the time to make some eggs with a side of a fresh fruit, or whatever healthy dish your pallet desires that morning. Sit down and thoroughly enjoy your breakfast! Don't be scrolling through Facebook or checking your twitter either. Just eat! What you eat has a big impact on how your day will go. Make it a good breakfast for a good day!

Read📖- take 10 minutes at the start of your day to read! Its been proven that reading relaxes your aura, keeps your brain sharp, and eases depression and anxiety. Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and just read with no distractions. It could be a book you're already deeply involved in, a textbook, a self-help book, magazines, newspapers or that novel you've always wanted to read but never got around to it. Just make sure its not on a phone, computer or tablet screen! 

Rise and Shine.. Earlier🌅- after practicing a morning ritual over a long period of time, you will see that it becomes easier and easier to wake up each and every day. This means you could start waking up earlier as well. This will help you accomplish more when you are starting your day!

Now that you have some ideas, you can actually start doing one of them. Whichever you choose to do, do it and make it a priority each morning! Keep it up until it becomes apart of your morning routine without even thinking about it. Share with a friend to help them create a healthy morning routine as well!
