Oil Pulling: What Is It? & How To Do It?

~Oil Pulling~

This old-time Ayurvedic remedy has been making a comeback as a trend in the health world! Using natural ingredients, you can clean and detox your teeth and gums, while also whitening your teeth without any harsh and toxic chemicals! How great?

Oil pulling is when you swish oil around in your mouth for about 20 minutes! The most common oils to use are coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil and sesame oil! Make sure these oils are unprocessed, unrefined and organic. You don't want to be putting any processed foods into your body while you're trying to rid yourself of already existing toxins! Swishing the oil around for just 20 minutes each day will improve your oral health significantly! The oils are able to make their way through plaque buildup and eliminate toxins without damaging your teeth and gums!

♡

Here are a few reasons why you should consider making oil pulling apart of your oral health hygiene routine!

Natural Teeth Whitening- Why pay hundreds of dollars to get your teeth whitened by toxic chemicals, when you can do it at home with healthy and safe ingredients at a low cost!? Say goodbye to those teeth whitening strips, oil pulling is here to take over! The oil contains natural antiviral and antibiotic properties that thoroughly cleans your teeth, keeping them super white! Just give it 2 weeks time and you'll see amazing results!

Energy Booster- Your immune system is responsible for removing toxins from your body, which depletes your supply of energy! By doing oil pulling, you can decrease the amount of work your immune system has to do, therefore increasing your energy levels! That's a great partnership deal, if you ask me!

Body Detox- You have many germs throughout your body that act as poisons to our health by causing inflammation, which can quickly lead to disease and illness. Your mouth is the main area for this contamination to occur! Removing the toxins that are present in your mouth before they can spread to the rest of your body is a great way to detox your entire body!

Promotes Changes in Hormones- Without combating with toxins, your hormones can function properly! This creates a smoother and more balanced hormonal change!

Relieves Headaches- When your body is experiencing toxic stress, you will have headaches and migraines. This is your body's way of telling you to take it easy and take some time to recover. Oil pulling removes bacteria from your body which helps relieve and even avoid headaches/migraines all together!

Clear Skin- Yes, the act of swishing oil around in your mouth even benefits your skin! How awesome?! When you remove toxins, that would normally travel to your bloodstream, from your body you are giving your skin a chance to breathe. Oil pulling has been found to reduce or even eliminate skin rashes and acne significantly!

Healthy Oral Hygiene- Oil pulling has the capability to decrease the development of cavities and eliminate halitosis (bad breath). Streptococcus mutant is a bacteria found in your mouth that is a leading cause of tooth decay! Oil pulling also helps reduce plaque-induced gingivitis!

How To Oil Pull

Take 1 tablespoon of an oil of your choice (coconut, sunflower, olive or sesame) and put it in your mouth. Swish around thoroughly for up to 20 minutes, no less than 5 minutes. Make sure you do not swallow any of the oil that you have been swishing around because the toxins you are trying to get rid of are in there! Also, DO NOT spit your oil into your sink, it will cause build up and clog your drain! After you have spit out the oil in a place other than your sink, brush your teeth with a natural and fluoride-free toothpaste and rinse!

Now that doesn't seem hard does it? This simple process can help you maintain amazing oral health!

When first starting the oil pulling routine you could see clear results immediately, or it could take a few days to a few weeks. The amount of time the results begin to appears depends on what your health is like when you start oil pulling. If you don't see results immediately, be patient! You will learn to love oil pulling and include in it your daily routine in no time!
