In a study women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the effect of Wen Jing Tang on the levels of plasma LH (Luteinizing hormone) and estradiol were measured and ovulation rates were determined. After a 8-week administration, plasma LH levels were significantly decreased (p < 0.0001) and a mild increase of estradiol was observed (1.51-fold, p = 0.055) in women whose condition fits the TCM pattern diagnosis applicable to the formula. The ovulation rate was also significantly higher (p = 0.0036)1.
